I had a hankering to read some Wesley/Faith recently, what with Angel the Series ending. Last season's Faith arc had some great moments between the two, but overall it left me unsatisfied -- I didn't need resolution for the characters, per se, but there's a way of resolving the need for "more" by giving us just enough non-resolution, if you will. Glass Shard Substitution by Nicole Clevenger addresses that need with a dark encounter in a dark motel room just before Faith leaves L.A. It's not the tour de force of Wes/Faith that is Roseveare's Return (recommended previously here, and which I mention because I think Wes/Faith kind of demands "tour de force") but it hits all the right notes even so. Cutting Room Floor, by the same author, deals with Faith's lingering dreams of Angelus during the car ride from L.A. to Sunnydale. The ending, a brief exchange with Willow, is particularly strong.
Kate Elizabeth's fanfic makes me miss Willow a lot. A lot. Each small story glows with warmth, affection and stunningly good writing, with a heartbreak waiting behind every other line. They're all fantastic, but I've picked out three favorites: Dreams of Alligators is a golden sliver of an afternoon in "Graduation Day 1"; Beginning to See the Light is VampWillow in all her chilling deadliness; Mirrored is Willow on the way to L.A. to break the news.
ETA: As of January 2012, I believe this author has removed her fanfic from the Internet.

Hth's 28 Days is a gorgeous look at the Willow/Tara relationship, fleshing out the complexities and anxieties that have only been hinted at onscreen. Orleans is a carefully-crafted story about Wishverse Buffy and a possible Faith, and like Witness (rec'd here earlier) does a fantastic exploration of Slayer issues: death, darkness, and duty.
BTVS: various (Willow/Spike)
Sep. 29th, 2001 04:59 pmI'm finding myself captivated by the idea of Willow/Spike, but only in the hands of certain authors. It's hard to write them both in-character and still make the pairing believable, whether it's romantic or simply sexual. So far, I've been most impressed by Jonquil's Blinded With Science series, ConditionalResponse by NyxMne Chaosis which takes place in her Query series, and The Spike Experience by zen.
